What Type of Keycap Is Right for Your Keyboard?

A full keycap set is the easiest way to change the overall look of a mechanical keyboard, while an artisan keycap works best as a smaller accent on keys such as Escape, Enter or a function-row key. If you are building around a complete theme, matching a keycap set with a keyboard and desk mat creates a more consistent setup.

Before ordering, check your keyboard layout, key sizes, switch stem and preferred profile. Many of our keycaps are designed for MX-style switches, while individual product pages list the exact material, profile, key count and compatibility details for that design.

Quick things to check

Layout: 60%, 65%, 75%, TKL, 96%, 98% and full-size boards need different key coverage.
Profile: Cherry, OEM, MOA, XDA and other profiles have different shapes and typing feel.
Material: PBT is popular for full sets, while artisan keycaps may use resin, ceramic, metal or mixed materials.
Stem: Confirm that the keycap fits your mechanical switch before ordering.
